HABS, HAER, and HALS Document Park Details
The Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), Historic American Engineering Record (HAER), and Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) thrive through cooperative agreements among the National Park Service, the Library of Congress, and professional organizations. Since 1933, the collections have grown to more than 42,000 surveys with about 85,000 technical drawings and 350,000 photographs. The Park Service creates new documentation every year, which the Library preserves and adds to the online collections.
