One way to spread the word about both women's music and feminist politics was self-published "zines" and periodical publications. You will notice that there is an interpreter on the cover of this issue of Hotwire. Feminist gatherings, and the women's music festivals in particular, attempted to foster a culture in which no woman would feel out of place.
