Service Records

Communities across the country memorialized their members' service and sacrifice in the war in a number of ways. The City of Oswego, New York, compiled individual service records of Oswegans who served in all branches of the military, as well as those who served in foreign allied forces during World War I. Each service record is a typed form, and is signed by the individual service member. If the service member died in the war, the form is submitted by the member's parent or nearest relative and carries a gold star.
