John William King's Death Sentence Appealed

Sentenced to death for the murder of James Byrd, Jr., John William King has repeatedly appealed his conviction: King v. State, 29 S.W.3d 556 (2000). As shown in this Southwest Reporter, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, in 2000, affirmed the judgement of the trial court. King's accomplices Lawrence Russell Brewer died by lethal injection in 2011 and Shawn Allen Berry is serving a life sentence with a possibility of parole in Texas.
