Zippy Goes National

Actively working in the San Francisco underground comic book scene, Bill Griffith introduced Zippy the Pinhead as a comic book character in 1971. When Griffith began drawing his feature daily for the San Francisco Examiner in 1985, the devotion of his followers led to national distribution a year later. Here, Zippy and his friend Intal spend days poring over the contents of crates of Atomic Duck comic books left by fictional cartoonist Morty Mishkin. They later learn, to their disappointment, that the archive is intended for the Library of Congress.
