All-Stars

Players chosen for the All-Star Game exemplify winning, even if their own teams have losing records. Although fans have been accused of voter fraud in attempting to elect most of their team's players -- notably for the Reds (1957), the A's (1974) and the Royals (2015) -- managers are less swayed by player popularity in choosing a roster. The seven American League All-Stars shown here in 1937 were chosen by manager Joe McCarthy, and all went on to the Hall of Fame.
