Mr. Spalding's Official Guide

Player, manager, sporting goods manufacturer, and publisher Albert G. Spalding was the man behind Spalding's Official Baseball Guide, the go-to reference work issued annually from 1878 to 1939. Chock-full of game and player statistics, pioneering articles, and ads for his own products, Spalding's was an official publication of the National League and later the designated authority for minor leagues and colleges. Spalding also published a Spanish-language edition that covered Cuban leagues, as well as the yearly Official Indoor Base Ball Guide for a sport that became better known as softball.
