Mo'ne Davis

Thirteen-year-old honor student Mo'ne Davis (b. 2001), pitching for Philadelphia's Taney Dragons, became the first girl to win a Little League Baseball World Series tournament game when she shutout all-male Nashville on August 15, 2014. Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout tweeted the nation's first impression: "Mo'ne Davis is straight dominating . . . fun to watch!!!" She also bumped the NBA's Kobe Bryant off the cover of Sports Illustrated that week. In 2015, teams nationwide reported a fifty-percent increase in girls signing up to play.
