The ball fields and scenic picnic grounds in Hoboken, N. J., across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan, was a popular site for both baseball and cricket matches. The Knickerbockers played here as early as 1845, preceded by the Magnolia Ball Club and the New York Ball Club. |
