Louise Farmer Smith is the author of a novel in stories, "One Hundred Years of Marriage," which has been cited as "a substantial addition to the literature of American identity and especially to the social history of American women." A descendant of pioneer dugout dwellers, she has been awarded first-place fiction prizes by Antietam Review, Potomac Review, and Glimmer Train, and her writing has appeared in four anthologies and on the internet as well as in literary journals such as the Virginia Quarterly Review and Bellevue Literary Review, which nominated one of her short stories for a 2005 Pushcart Prize.
