Brunch with Angela Davis
Rosa Parks' circle of friends included civil rights attorney Leo Branton, Jr., who co-defended Angela Davis. He persuaded a predominantly white jury to acquit Davis in 1972. Sometime later, Rosa received this invitation to attend a "brunch with Angela" in Indian Village, an affluent East Detroit neighborhood. Davis was then co-chairperson of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, an offshoot of the mass movement to free her, founded in 1973. |
