Childhood Encounter

Sylvester Edwards, a supporter of the fiery Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey, taught his granddaughter Rosa "never to accept mistreatment." She picked up a brick and dared him to try, revealing the feistiness that would incite her famous 1955 bus stand. Franklin retreated.
