Raging Bitch
2009

Flying Dog Brewery was originally established as a brewpub in 1990 in Aspen, Colorado. The founder and owner, George Stranahan, was a close friend of Hunter S. Thompson, who introduced him to Steadman. In 1995, the artist produced his first original artwork for Flying Dog's beer labels, which have since become an intrinsic part of the company's brand.
In 2009, the company commissioned Steadman to create a special label for "Raging Bitch," their 20th anniversary Belgian-style India Pale Ale. Michigan's Liquor Control Commission withheld registration of the label, which they deemed "detrimental to the health, safety and welfare of the general public." Flying Dog sued the Commission of US District Court, claiming that its First Amendment rights to free expression had been violated. In June 2011, three weeks after the company's first hearing before the Federal Court, the Commission decided to lift its ban. Raging Bitch has since become the company's most popular beer.
