Thomas Jefferson Memorial
Memorial Repair
The National Park Service is repairing the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
We will replace the two flat roofs that circle the marble doom to keep the building watertight. In addition, we will lift the marble tiles covering the portico to replace the deteriorating waterproofing below. We will also repair stone and structural components under the portico and colonnade ceilings and make improvements to the drainage system.
Most noticeably, we are using specialized lasers to remove the biofilm that has blackened the upper portions of the memorial.
