Getting to Africa from England in the 1950s and '60s was not nearly as straightforward as it is today. Airplane travel was intermittently possible but very costly. The more economical (and adventurous) route to Africa was by boat. Retrace Jane's journey to Kenya and Tanganyika on this map. |
