United States Marine Corps War Memorial
Restoring the Material and Grounds
This place commemorates the bravery of US Marines who gave their lives to defend freedom, and honors the continued patriotism and sacrifice of America's military families. The National Park Service is working to preserve this special place and share it with people around the world.

Project Highlights:
* Wash and wax the Memorial sculpture and re-gild the lettering.
* Repoint, repair, reset granite curbing and plaza that has been damaged, chipped, nicked or scratched
* Improve the lighting of the Memorial and the plaza
* Install interpretive and directional signs in keeping with the Memorial's intent
* Add landscaping including shrubs and pine trees
* Repave asphalt roadway and footpath

This project is possible thanks to a $5.37 million gift from businessman and philanthropist David M. Rubenstein's Centennial Campaign for America's National Parks.
