Bugle used to sound the "cease fire" that ended the World War:
This bugle was one of the many presents donated to the United States on the "Merci Train," sent by France as "tangible proof of an indestructible friendship." The Merci (Thank You) Train was a response to the 1947 "Friendship Train" sent to war-torn France by US citizens. Each state received a French WWI vintage boxcar filled with gifts "from the heart" of French citizens. The bugle was donated by the French sergeant who had used it in 1918. It was described as his "most valuable possession."
