From Streetcars to Metro

When relatively nimble automobiles arrived in the early 1900s, they conflicted with inflexible streetcars. Eventually buses replaced streetcars, and then the subway arrived. In addition to a wealth of published maps documenting these systems, the Kiplinger Research Library is home to unique documents -- especially photographs -- that were made by individuals fascinated by transportation.
