Ernest W. Hahn was a visionary civic and business leader whose courage and determination helped reshape the face of downtown San Diego. One of the founding fathers of the shopping center industry, over his 50-year- career Mr. Hahn left his indelible mark on dozens of communities nationwide, but perhaps no community has benefited more than San Diego, where he developed Fashion Valley, Horton Plaza, University Towne Centre (UTC) and Parkway Plaza. Mr. Hahn's proudest achievement, and his greatest legacy, is Horton Plaza. This world-renowned retail destination was the catalyst for downtown San Diego's dramatic rebirth and stands as a testament to Mr. Hahn's creative genius and unwavering belief in the potential of this city. |
