"Oral History Project of the United States Commission on the Ukraine Famine," vols. 1-3, published in 1990.

In 1983, 20,000 Ukrainian-Americans gathered at the Washington Monument to mark the 50th anniversary of the Holodomor. Ukrainian-American activists harnessed the political power of this gathering to lobby Congress to create a Famine Commission, which collected eyewitness accounts from survivors. The report, issued in 1990, contained approximately 200 interviews, some from anonymous sources who feared reprisals against family left behind in Soviet Ukraine.
