1. Epic. Thurgood Marshall, our nation's first African American Supreme Court Justice, was born here, not far from Pennsylvania Avenue.
2. Surprising. The Maryland Historical Society is home to Baltimore's biggest dog, the 18-foot Nipper RCA Victor statue.
3. Enduring. Baltimore is home to the nation's First Cathedral (Baltimore's Basilica) and the third-oldest standing synagogue (Lloyd Street).
4. Storied. USS Constellation is the only US Navy ship active during the Civil War that is still afloat.
