The two sections of this springhouse were used by the Belin family, who lived in the frame house across the road, and by the Alexis I. du Pont family; whose large house called "Hagley" stood on the hill above the Gibbons House. The families stored crocks of food in the cold spring water, which helped to retard spoilage. |
