Advertisement for Gurney's Premium Daguerrian Gallery

Gurney used a clever ploy to promote his original gallery. Designed to mimic one of the $100 banknotes then in circulation, this "note" is actually an advertising handbill whose "100 AND 89" denomination references the 189 Broadway street address of Gurney's studio. Its text includes the promise, "Pictures taken at this establishment warranted to give satisfaction."
