Goddard Space Flight Center
The NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center is a large installation in Greenbelt, Maryland from which a number of functions are carried out. Among other things, Goddard creates the components for the Hubble space telescope (including its periodic refittings) and controls it in flight.
The photo shows a life-size model of the shuttle space craft as well as a mock-up of the Hubble space telescope. The telescope is the size of a large bus and this mock-up allows them to test to see how things will fit and function in the real space craft. |
