A vigil created by the co-workers of chicken processing pant workers who died of COVID-19 in 2020. A t the beginning of the pandemic, the broiler chicken industry lobbies for its workers to be considered "essential." Many plants simultaneously increased work speeds, squeezed more workers onto the processing lines, failed to provide personal protective equipment, and pushed workers to work while sick. These conditions helped make chicken plants across the country early hotspots of the pandemic.
