CONTEXT:
Today, there are only around 300 remaining Chinese American residents in DC's Chinatown, most of whom are low-income elders who must travel significant distances to find grocery stores that carry Chinese ingredients. Ensuring that immigrant communities are able to access traditional foods is part of food justice.

TAKE ACTION:
Support small, local food businesses -- especially longstanding ones–that serve neighborhoods with a distinct history and culture. Get informed about and advocate for local legislation that can help such businesses survive and thrive, especially in moments of rapid gentrification or economic crisis.
