The Bureau of Air Commerce conducted the Hindenburg disaster investigation. Commander Charles E. Rosendahl, commander of the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, testified first. The investigation could not definitely identify the actual cause of the fire. With no evidence of sabotage, the most probably cause was a "spark that ignited the mixture of hydrogen and air resulting in the catastrophe."
