This 10-inch projectile was recovered from the dunes of Sandy Hook during an unexploded ordnance sweep in 1998. Between 1874 and 1919, the US Army test-fired new artillery guns at the Sandy Hook Proving Ground before shipping them to be placed at coastal defense forts throughout America. |
