Keith Mather
Keith Mather was one of the soldiers who publicly left their posts without authorization (AWOL), took sanctuary in a San Francisco church, and were known as the "Nine for Peace." Mather was arrested, taken to the Presidio stockade and joined a protest there as one of the Presidio 27. He escaped and, on Christmas Eve, in 1968, he deserted to Canada.
