The 100 Greatest NHL Players
The 100 Greatest NHL Players is a centerpiece in honoring 100 years of NHL hockey. A Blue Ribbon panel comprised of 58 distinguished members of the hockey community - including executives, media members and NHL alumni - selected the list of esteemed players.
As part of the NHL's Centennial Celebration, renowned Canadian artist Tony Harris was commissioned by the league to paint original portraits of each of the 100 Greatest NHL Players. The special initiative pays tribute to a century's worth of record holders, all-time leaders, captains, Stanley Cup champions, and Hockey Hall of Famers, immortalizing the greatest stars from the League's first 100 years. Harris' work captures the character and spirit of each player.
The Embassy of Canada is honoured to exhibit this collection of Giclée print reproductions on canvas, which features 83 Canadian-born players. The list is comprised of: 39 centers, 21 defensemen, 15 goaltenders, 15 right wings and 10 left wings. Collectively, they have been Stanley Cup champions a total of 309 times. |
