Thomas Jefferson's Desk
This architectural style American table-desk is said to have been designed and used by Thomas Jefferson for drafting many important documents, possibly including portions of the Declaration of Independence. It was in his apartment at 7th and Market Streets, Philadelphia, 1775-1776. Later the desk belonged to John Dickenson, President of Delaware 1781-1782 and governor of Pennsylvania 1782-1785. Dickenson was a member of the Continental Congress from 1774-1776 and is known as the "Penman of the Revolution" although he did not sign the Declaration of Independence.
