Rivercane (Arundinaria) is a native bamboo that played a significant role in the outcome of the Battle of Cowpens. Flanked by inpenetrable rivercane thickets (canebrakes0 on both sides, British troops advancing down Green River Road found themselves channelled in a head on attack by Continentals and Militia.
Rivercane is being replanted and managed for expansion in areas of interpretive value and historic significance. |
