Early Influences
From his early childhood in the 1920s and 1930s, Schulz was fascinated by comic strips and eagerly read them in four Sunday papers. Many Sunday comic strips, Prince Valiant, Thimble Theater with Popeye, and Moon Mullins, were a full page and beautifully illustrated; a classroom for someone of Sculz's innate genius. Comics, such as the examples displayed here ,shaped his approach to comic art and greatly influenced his later drawing and writing styles. |
