Li'l Folks was published in the women's section of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, rather than the comics page. In 1949, Schulz requested a raise from the managing editor but was turned down. He then asked the editor to restore the size of the cartoon (it had been cut down from three newspaper panels to two), but this was also turned down. Schulz followed up with a request that they at least move Li'l Folks to the comics page. When the editor ultimately denies all three requests, their affiliation ended.
