September 20, 1863.
Captain Peter Simonson, Commanding
1st Lieutenant Alfred Morrison. (wounded).

The Battery came into position on this ground early in the morning on the left of the Brigade front line and on the right of Baird's Division, and commenced the construction of log breastworks. It occupied this position during the day, and was hotly engaged from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Battery fired in this position over 1000 rounds of ammunition and during the two days 1247 rounds. In leaving this position, during a fierce assault, the battery, having lost one gun the day before, lost another disabled by a solid shot; this gun was spiked. From this line the battery moved to Rossville via McFarland's Gap and encamped for the night. Casualties of the battle: officers wounded 1; men killed 1; men wounded 6; men missing 1; horses shot 30; guns and caissons lost 2.
