After the war, soldiers went home to resume their lives -- but the battles and battlefields had become an indelible part of their lives. Starting in the late 1870s, veterans and tourists visited the fields here regularly. Some took home souvenirs, like this cane.

This is a rack for drying herbs made from the original floorboards at Salem Church.
