This is the uniform coat of Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Foster Hunt, who commanded the 13th South Carolina at the Bloody Angle on May 12, 1864. A graduate of the Citadel and married, he had enlisted in the regiment as a private and rose in rank quickly. He was wounded at Gaines's Mill and Fredericksburg, but survived the brutal fighting of May 12 unscathed. |
