The Boldness of Lee and Jackson:
On the still night of May 1, 1863, Confederate generals Lee and Jackson sat on cracker boxes around a fire beside the Orange Plank Road. Faced with a much larger Union army (78,000 men) strongly entrenched around Chancellorsville, they planned perhaps the most daring battlefield maneuver of the war.
