The Little Engine That Could: I Think I CAN

"I think I can" are the words of perseverance uttered by our favorite childhood locomotive, the Little Engine that Could. The Little Engine that Could was written by legendary children's book author Watty Piper and first illustrated by cartoonist Lois Lenski in 1930 at the beginning of the Great Depression. Our industrious blue engine was tasked with rescuing a fellow locomotive stranded on a mountain after all the other trains refused to help. Even though he was smaller than the other trains, the Little Engine that Could volunteered, coining the phrase "I think I can, I think I can," as he assisted his friend over the mountain to safety. Now more than ever, The Little Engine that Could encourages children and adults alike to overcome this challenging "mountain" of a year with determination and a little kindness.
