Trolley tracks set in cobblestone are still found along O and P Streets in Georgetown, but the Cabin John cars stopped running in 1960. DC has begun to replace tracks that heaved up in the cobblestone paving. For years Georgetown residents refused to have them removed since they reflected neighborhood history and forced traffic to move slowly. But replacing the tracks suggests there might be a future trolley line planned. Trolley service on the new H Street line should begin in early 2014. |
