The Original Cabin John Trolley Route
The Cabin John Trolley began running in 1892, from Union Station through downtown to Georgetown and along the Potomac River to the Chautauqua Assembly at Glen Echo. The line was planned to extend to the Great Falls of the Potomac, but ended at Cabin John for economy. It was considered one of the nation's most scenic trolley lines with views of the river, trestles over cascading streams and rails through dense forests with wildlife. |
