This engraving by Cephas G. Childs and Thomas Gimbrede, after a painting by Joseph Wood, appeared as the front piece in "A Biographical Memoir of the Late Commodore Joshua Barney," published by Barney's daughter-in-law, Mary Barney, in 1832. Wood painted portraits of a series of heroes of the War of 1812 for popular journals during and soon after the war. |
