The grave of Frank Woodruff Buckles, the last surviving American veteran of World war I. He joined the US Army at age 17, deployed to France, and served as an ambulance and motorcycle driver. He died at age 110 on February 27, 2011 and was buried in Section 34, Grave 579-A, very close to General John Pershing. |
