After arriving in Baltimore, Winfrey, who had previously straightened her hair, adopted a natural hairstyle. As she later recalled, her managers at the television station disliked the look and encouraged her to visit an upscale salon in New York City to have it restyled. Winfrey saved the check she wrote, and noted the disastrous outcome: "Hair fell out." |
