The Tabernacle moved to a new building at the northeast corner of 34th Street and Broadway in 1859. This site was soon nicknamed "Liberty Corner" for its role in supporting abolitionists during the Civil War. Pastor Joseph P. Thompson gave anti-slavery sermons and invited black preachers to the pulpit. |
