This early colonial political cartoon entitled "The Federal Superstructure" appeared in the Massachusetts Centinel on January 30, 1788. The paper charted the progress towards the ratification of the US Constitution. "The Pillar of the Great Federal Edifice rises daily," the paper observed. The cartoon indicates that Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, and Connecticut have already ratified. |
