Tree Lighting During the Holidays
Washington really comes alive during the December holiday season. From Capitol Hill to the White House, the streets are festooned with garland, trees and wreaths. As part of the neighborhood and to share Canadian hospitality and good cheer, the Embassy hosts a tree lighting ceremony every year. The balsam tree that typically adorns the rotunda stands close to 25 feet tall and has been donated every year by the Christmas Tree Council of Nova Scotia. The beauty of these balsams infuse Canada's corner of Pennsylvania Avenue with the holiday spirit. |
