Elevating Suppressed Voices: Campbell's short stories tackle gender roles and much more through the stories of children's toys, while Koiter's persona poems explore the voices of a broken people and those struggling with relationships and life and Costas' poems resurface the hero Ariadne from mythology, enabling her to own her own story and no longer stand in the shadows of Theseus.

Tara Campbell is a writer, teacher, Kimbilio Fellow and fiction co-editor at Barrelhouse. She received her M.F.A. from American University. Previous publication credits include SmokeLong Quarterly, Masters Review, Wigleaf, Booth, Strange Horizons, CRAFT Literary and Escape Pod/Artemis Rising. She’s the author of a novel, “TreeVolution,” and four collections: “Circe’s Bicycle,” “Midnight at the Organporium,” “Political AF: A Rage Collection” and “Cabinet of Wrath: A Doll Collection.”

Jenn Koiter is a writer, marketer, entrepreneur and breathworker. The winner of the 2021 DC Poet Project, Jenn’s debut poetry collection, “So Much of Everything,” was published in 2021 by Day Eight. Her poems and essays have appeared in Barrelhouse, Smartish Pace, Bateau, Ruminate, Copper Nickel and other journals. She lives in Washington, D.C., with three gerbils named Sputnik, Cosmo and Unit.

2022 photos: This year included major setbacks -- including Putin's invasion of Ukraine and the Supreme Court imposing the evangelical version of sharia law -- but also some steps forward like the results of the midterms. This website had its 20th anniversary in August, 2022. Equipment this year: I continued to use my Fuji XS-1 cameras but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000. Trips this year: (February) a visit to see Dad and Dixie in Asheville, NC with some other members of my family, (July) a trip out west for the return of San Diego Comic-Con, and (October) a long weekend in New York to cover New York Comic-Con. Number of photos taken this year: about 386,000, up 2020 and 2021 levels but still way below pre-pandemic levels.
