Description of Pictures: Facets of Hope
Brookside Gardens announces a new temporary art installation, “Facets of Hope”, to honor the lives lost to COVID-19 in Montgomery County.
Since March 6, 2020, when COVID-19 was first reported in Montgomery County, more than 1,400 county residents have died from the virus. “Facets of Hope” will honor those we have lost by suspending one strand of crystals, in memory of each life lost in Montgomery County. The vintage crystals are clear, molded glass or cut crystal, and will be suspended from the arbor in the walkway. The exhibit will be installed on the wisteria arbor located in the Rose Garden. New strands will be added through the duration of the exhibit.
Purple background with illustration of wisteria with Montgomery Parks' Facets of Hope title and Brookside Gardens and Montgomery Parks logos “Everyone in Montgomery County has been deeply impacted by COVID-19. We have lost our parents, children, siblings, partners, friends, neighbors and co-workers to the virus. This temporary art installation is meant to be a place for memories, reflection and healing,” said Stephanie Oberle, Director, Brookside Gardens.
The public can view the Facets of Hope outdoor exhibit from March through September. The beauty of the exhibit will evolve through the seasons, as spring wisteria blossom, and then transforms in summer months as the roses bloom.

I love well-behaved spiders! They are, in fact, how most people find my site. Unfortunately, my network has a limited bandwidth and pictures take up bandwidth. Spiders ask for lots and lots of pages and chew up lots and lots of bandwidth which slows things down considerably for regular folk. To counter this, you'll see all the text on the page but the images are being suppressed. Also, some system options like merges are being blocked for you.
Note: Permission is NOT granted for spiders, robots, etc to use the site for AI-generation purposes. I'm sure you're thrilled by your ability to make revenue from my work but there's nothing in that for my human users or for me.
If you are in fact human, please email me at guthrie.bruce@gmail.com and I can check if your designation was made in error. Given your number of hits, that's unlikely but what the hell.

A temporary art installation remembering those lost to COVID-19 in Montgomery County
March-September 2021
Life is fragile. But our connections to people are strong, even when COVID-19 limits our ability to be together in person.
Since March 6, 2020, when COVID-19 was first reported in Montgomery County, we have lost more than 1,350 of our parents, children, siblings, partners, friends, neighbors and co-workers to the virus. Each loss causes pain and grief. And as we turn to each other for comfort, many of us have also found solace in green spaces like Brookside Gardens. The predictable rhythm of the seasons brings reassurance; the green growth of plants inspires hope; and the beauty of the landscape evokes joy.
This temporary art installation is meant to be a place for memories, reflection and healing. One strand of crystals is suspended in memory of each life lost to COVID-19 in Montgomery County. New strands will be added through the duration of the exhibit. At the conclusion of the exhibit, the crystals will be removed and repurposed elsewhere.
May this place of quiet beauty bring peace.

BROOKF_220315_02.JPG: The Facets of Hope crystals were no longer up. Someone said they had been taken down the previous week. It was originally supposed to end in September 2021 but of course everyone thought people would have been vaccinated and we'd be over COVID by then but noooo....
The trellises, BTW, which hold the wisteria, were later taken down. The wisteria were cut down because of their age and the trellises were in need of replacement as well. Note that supporting wood on this side.
Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.
