Description of Pictures: Opening and Gallery Talk: Caribbean Transitions
Curator Keith Morrison will discuss the exhibition Caribbean Transitions, followed by an opening reception for the AU Museum's six summer shows.
Caribbean Transitions explores the character, complexity, and originality of art by Caribbean American artists as they expand the art of the North American continent. The 20 artists in the exhibition are respected internationally, and many are represented in major museums in the United States and abroad. They are painters, printmakers, photographers, video makers, and installation and performance artists. Most of the artists were born in the Caribbean and migrated to the US; some were born in the US to Caribbean parents; others live in the Caribbean and exhibit worldwide. Their histories come from Cuba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, and the US.
This event will be held in-person at the museum. Learn more about the exhibition.
Masks are highly recommended. All guests and visitors to American University, including the AU Museum, must be fully vaccinated and wear an N95 or KN95 mask. Visitors must be prepared to present their vaccination record card or a digital copy, or a negative PCR test record in the absence of a vaccination card upon arrival on the AU campus.
Same Event: Wait! There's more! Because I took too many pictures, photos from this event were divided among the following pages:

I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com

2022 photos: This year included major setbacks -- including Putin's invasion of Ukraine and the Supreme Court imposing the evangelical version of sharia law -- but also some steps forward like the results of the midterms.
This website had its 20th anniversary in August, 2022.
Equipment this year: I continued to use my Fuji XS-1 cameras but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
Trips this year:
(February) a visit to see Dad and Dixie in Asheville, NC with some other members of my family,
(July) a trip out west for the return of San Diego Comic-Con, and
(October) a long weekend in New York to cover New York Comic-Con.
Number of photos taken this year: about 386,000, up 2020 and 2021 levels but still way below pre-pandemic levels.
